Parking in the driveway is not allowed. There is plenty of on street parking but you need to be aware of all the rules. Be warned, the fines are many and expensive.
Somerville allows you reserve a spot for your moving van and car to move in. Of course there is a fee... so go to the web site to get the current rates.
Street Cleaning - It is very important that you understand what the street cleaning rules are. You will be ticketed. Luckily, Windsor Road and Hancock Street have the same parking rules.
You need to get a Parking Permit to park your car on the street. To obtain a residential sticker you must present a current, valid Mass registration showing Somerville, MA as the principal place of garaging. You must do this in person at the parking office

Guest Parking - You are entitled to receive two VISITOR CARDS These cards are to be used by your visitors only twice a week in the same vehicle.
Special Permits - If you need temporary parking privileges, then you may qualify for one. Surf to the web site to see the qualifying categories.
Paying Parking Fines - You can pay your fines on-line or by phone. The ticket is expensive enough by itself... If you delay paying it the fines just get bigger. Once the fine is issued, the debt goes away. Just ask President Obama how many parking tickets he had in Somerville when he lived her while attending Harvard Law.
Some Windsor Road gotchyas - violations
The City of Somerville requires permits for portable moving crates (PODS) and moving vans parked in on-street parking spaces. The following fees are required: a permit fee of $25 per day and $5 for each ‘no parking' sign. If applicable, there is a charge of $5 per bagged meter plus a $10 service fee Monday through Thursday and $20 fee Friday through Sunday. Permits must be displayed at all times on the door of the storage crate. There is a $50 fine per day for non-compliance. Click here to download the applications.

This pass allows time for the new resident to acquire a change of vehicle registration to Somerville and obtain a parking permit for their new location.
